'The Walking Dead' season 6 spoilers: Steven Yeun's name is gone from the opening credits
Many "The Walking Dead" fans tuned in to the latest episode last Sunday, hoping to get an answer as to whether or not Glenn Rhee survived that seemingly massive zombie attack. But alas, they were in for some disappointment as the show only focused on one major character — and it is not him. And if they looked closely at the opening credits, they were in for a bigger heartbreak.
Episode three of "The Walking Dead's" season six left Glenn (Steven Yeun) surrounded by a horde of zombies after being accidentally pulled to the ground with Nicholas (Michael Traynor), who just committed suicide. Even with his last shot showing zombies seemingly eating his guts out, fans are still hoping it was just a matter of camera shot and that their favourite original character made it out alive.
So they tune in to episode four, hoping to get some answers. Boy, were they disappointed.
Titled "Here's Not Here," last Sunday's episode of "TWD" placed the highlight on Morgan Jones (Lennie James) and how he came about to being the peaceful man that he is now on season five. Only one other character (or maybe two, if one counts the goat) was featured in the episode, Eastman (John Carroll Lynch), who also taught Morgan the disciplines of aikido. No Rick (Andrew Lincoln). No Daryl (Norman Reedus). No Carol (Melissa McBride). And definitely no Glenn.
But if that was heartbreaking enough, a closer look at the opening credits was even more heartbreaking. Steven Yeun's name was obviously not there. Yeun's name is usually flashed in between Norman Reedus and Lauren Cohan (who plays Maggie Greene). This week, though, it was noticeably not there. It was an obvious omission, too, as his name usually appears right smack in the middle of the screen.
Is this a confirmation of Glenn's death or just the showrunners' way of teasing the fans? After all, Scott M. Gimple did say viewers are still going to see the character — or "some version" of him — in future episodes.
Check out Glenn's fate when "The Walking Dead" airs new episodes on AMC every Sunday night, 9 p.m.
