'The Walking Dead' season 6 news: fans are worried that Glenn will die - and so is Steven Yeun

(Official "The Walking Dead" Facebook)"The Walking Dead" returns for season 6 this Oct. 11

Season 6 of "The Walking Dead" is just around the corner and fans are beginning to feel the excitement and the tension that comes whenever the series comes along. But the tension is more palpable this season, particularly when it comes to Steven Yeun's character, Glenn Rhee.

The large horde of walkers that threaten to overwhelm the Alexandria Safe Zone in the trailers is worrying, but what fans (especially those who have read the comics) are more concerned about is whether or not Glenn will survive the season.

In the comic books, the arrival of Rick's group in Alexandria also introduces new communities and characters, like Negan. The character is a bloodthirsty villain infamous for beating Glenn to death with a barbed-wire wrapped bat named Lucille.

While "The Walking Dead" showrunners have made no mention of Negan appearing in season 6, it has been confirmed that Tom Payne is onboard to play Paul Monroe aka Jesus. The character is one who inadvertently alerts Negan about Rick and his group, so his appearance next season has gotten fans thinking that Negan and his Saviors are not far off.

Fans are not the only ones worried about Glenn; the actor playing him is worried, too. Yeun admitted as much in an interview the cast gave to the New York Daily News but said that they're "still in the middle of filming" and that there are other storylines from Robert Kirkman's graphic novels that they are telling. Avid fans are reading that to mean that the fan favorite is still alive.

The character's fate might still be uncertain, but what the Korean-American actor can say with certainly is that Glenn's relationship with Maggie is still going strong, especially now that there's this place where they can start to forge a normal life for themselves. In an interview he gave to EW, the 31-year-old actor described Glenn and Maggie's relationship as "more solidified than ever before" and that they're both invested in the idea of a new life in the Alexandria Safe Zone.

"It's that both of them are trying to make this place work for each other, and you look at that situation and you realize that Glenn has to do these things. He has to go out there," Yeun said. "And she is bringing her leadership so that it's ready for all of us to be there."

To see more of Glenn, Maggie and the rest of their group, viewers can check out "The Walking Dead" when it returns to AMC on Oct. 11 for its sixth season.
