Just because it's titled "Planet of the Apes," does not mean it will just be all about apes, as fans of the franchise already know by now. In fact, the latest movie in the sci-fi franchise has just cast its first human character.

The 2017 film, "War of the Planet of the Apes" is set to have two lead human characters and one of them has just been cast. Deadline reports that "Low Riders" and "East Los High" star, Gabriel Chavarria, is stepping into the role. The studio 20th Century Fox is still a little tight-lipped about any character details in the meantime.

"War of the Planet of the Apes" is the third movie in the Planet of the Apes reboot, following box office hits, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" in 2005 and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in 2011. The movie had already been in the works while "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" was still in production.

At the helm of the upcoming movie is Matt Reeves, who also directed the second movie. Reeves will also co-write the script with Mark Bomback. Producing the films are Amanda Silver, Peter Chernin, and Rick Jaffa.

Reprising his role as leader of the apes is Andy Serkis as Caesar. Though no one else had been confirmed to return, many are expecting Jason Clarke to be the human leader, Malcolm.

Plot for the third movie in the reboot has not been revealed yet but the title sure gives fans an idea of what to expect. At the end of "Dawn," Caesar looks over a horde of apes, all ready to take on the war brewing on the horizon. "War" is then expected to take off right where the movie ended and launch the human-ape conflict into a full-scale war.

"War of the Planet of the Apes" battles it out in theaters on July 14, 2017.
