'Wayward Pines' season 3 spoilers: Humans, Abbies to live together in peace?
The second season finale of "Wayward Pines" left fans wondering what's next for humans, but new reports are pointing to the possible co-existence of man and Abbies in the third installment of the hit show.
Recent rumors suggest that "Wayward Pines" season three may depict the story of how the Abbies and humans will finally leave peacefully on Earth following all the struggles and the battle to keep the peace in the small town.
As fans know, Jason (Tom Stevens) placed the remaining humans into a coma and their bodies were put in cryogenic pods as the chilling town prepares for the invasion of the Abbies.
It is unclear what happens next to the humans who were put to sleep but it is expected that man will start to really understand that he may be facing extinction as the Abbies are bound to take over Earth.
There are also rumors suggesting that man may finally be wiped away from the face of the Earth, given that the people who were working hard to keep humans alive have run out of methods to ensure everyone's safety.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, author Blake Crouch discussed the idea of the show depicting how it would be if man goes extinct. "One of things that we kept coming back to was this idea of man facing his own extinction. What does that look like? Mankind would be the first self-aware species to go extinct."
Crouch added that it would be interesting to see man in his final moments before being totally removed from his habitat. "What are those final hours, what are those final moments like? Are we resilient and brave? Are we afraid? We're probably all of those things," he said.
Meanwhile, it is expected that a new breed of Abbies will rise among the ruins and the people who have been placed in the cryogenic pods will meet this new race. It would be interesting to see if these new Abberations and the humans who have just awakened from deep sleep will be the ones to finally get the much-coveted peace that the previous generation hoped for.
The premiere of "Wayward Pines" season three has yet to be announced by FOX.
