'World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor' 6.2 patch update: inactive character names will be available again after patch
Blizzard just announced that "World of Warcraft" will be having a name reclamation process for the next patch of the IP's latest expansion "Wardlords of Draenor" this week, June 24.
The news was posted on the game's official blog and as explained on PC Gamer, character names that have not been accessed since December 7, 2010 will become available again for the new players or for subscribers who used the paid name changing service.
However, as posted on Gazette Review, for those who are affected by this update, players will have to rename the characters again once they open and play the game. As suggested by various sources and on the game's official blog, to prevent this from happening, it is advisable to log in the characters on that account so that the subscriber will not have to repeat the tedious process of choosing a name for the character again.
"Our goal with this great name liberation is to make sure new and returning players have a large and varied pool of names available to choose from," Blizzard wrote on their official blog (via PC Gamer). "So log in now if you wish to preserve your unused characters' names for your ongoing journey through Draenor."
According to Tech Times, the game has been running for 10 years now and countless accounts have already become inactive. And Blizzard came up with the name reclamation solution to give way for new players or veterans who wish to have more freedom in choosing their names. Besides, it is also very important to make inactive names available as it is extremely hard to come up with a unique name in an MMORPG game that has millions of players.
The "World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor" massive 6.2 patch will include a new zone, flyable mount, new boss raids and of course, new challenges.
