WWE rumors: Randy Orton's return may take more time

The WWE could really use someone like Randy Orton right now, especially with the lack of manpower to help jack up the ratings. Everyone is aware of the WWE's current struggles and the top WWE stars on the injured list could have somehow cushioned all that a bit.

While John Cena and Seth Rollins are expected to be back at some point in the coming weeks or months, the case doesn't seem to hold the same for Orton. "The Viper" has been out since November following a shoulder injury and the latest reports reveal that his rehab is not going as smooth and as fast as he would like it to.

Other than that, Orton may be taking the safe route, considering his shoulder has been through a lot. It's not the first time he's had his current injury and future similar afflictions could leave dire consequences if not allowed to heal properly.

Orton is likely to train once again come mid-June, meaning he is likely to miss a couple of more pay-per-views before he can truly be 100% fit and able to get back to active duty.

With all speculations on Randy Orton's return shelved for now, it may be better instead to figure out who he would face upon his return.

Before the injury, Orton was on the verge of joining WWE heavyweight champion Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against the uncanny Wyatt Family.

All that changed when the injury bug set in and the whole scenario is unlikely to be recalled. But if Orton had his way, the veteran WWE star has two wrestlers in mind – Sami Zayn and Finn Balor.

Zayn could be an interesting matchup but that can only take place once the former NXT star's storyline with Kevin Owens comes to an end.

For Balor, it is no secret as well that he is being linked to the Bulletproof Balor Club, though he continued to hold out in the NXT brand. A feud with Orton doesn't seem clear for now, with Balor likely to be tied up to the faction-related twist the WWE reportedly has planned.
