The PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016 held in Anaheim, California last Dec. 3 and 4 proved to be a saturated ground for both new and reborn games for PlayStation's current console. "Ys Origin" is one title that will be making an unexpected yet welcome rebirth into the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita early 2017.

The announcement trailer shows some of the things that fans of the original cartoony dungeon-crawling game loved. It presents animated cutscenes featuring the twin goddesses Reah and Feena and the priests who are searching for them. The quirky design of the cute, tiny characters sporting big heads makes a comeback to the stage.

On a PlayStation blog post, it is described that "Ys Origin" will be getting optimized visuals and effects, as well as improved user interface to take advantage of the full-HD widescreen experience, and this is something fans will have to watch out for. If there is anything else noteworthy, though, it is the marvelous soundtrack that spells both excitement and nostalgia.

2016 indeed is a great year to bring back the classic to mainstream audiences. Communication and Marketing manager for DotEmu Jessica Iragne says the game is already a decade old. "We're thrilled to announce the return of Ys Origin on PS4 and PS Vita! Originally released in 2006 for the PC market in Japan, this epic action RPG is now back 10 years later (Happy Birthday!) with a well-deserved rebirth on PS4 and PS Vita — the perfect consoles to host this relaunch," Iragne exclaims.

Ever since the announcement, netizens have been quick to express their excitement via Twitter. Players seek to reignite the unique storytelling and eccentric visuals of the game. In the current gaming arena where most titles are dominated by impressive computer-generated imagery, "Ys Origin" goes back to the animated style, which is a trip down memory lane for most players.

Players will be excited to see Yunica Tovah, Hugo Fact, and a third playable character after completing the game. "Ys Origin" is reborn into PS4 and PlayStation Vita platforms by Feb. 21, 2017.
