Science-fiction mystery drama television series "12 Monkeys" is still far from premiering its second season, but fans are not left clueless on what's to come next as spoilers have surfaced already. According to a report by Design & Trend, fans will be meeting a new character in the show and it will be played by Madeleine Stowe.

Stowe isn't new to the whole "12 Monkeys" background though as she used to play the part of Dr. Kathryn Railly in the film with the same title in 1995. She will not be reprising her role also as the virologist as that is being currently filled in by Amanda Schull ("Suits," "Pretty Little Liars"). Instead, as revealed in Entertainment Weekly, she will be taking the character named Lillian who is described to be the crazy one this time.

Executive Producer Terry Matalas revealed that she will be appearing in a mental asylum in the late 50s and she will be heard first before appearing. Matalas said that it will be Stowe who will be voicing the opening montage of the premiere episode.

"The season finale opens very much like our season opener does with the story of the end of the world, only now we'll understand it all and she will play a part," reveals Matalas.

Aside from that, the showrunner revealed that the character Lillian will be playing an essential role in Cole's (Aaron Stanford) journey.

"When Cole meets her, he's in a very different place in his life than we've ever seen him. She's going to deliver some very bad news, but she's also going to give him some sage advice that our time traveler will desperately need," Matalas says. He then went on to describe Lillian similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi, only more insidious.

As for the series' spoilers, a trailer promo for the upcoming season 2 has already been released and it shows that a lot of events will be taking place including Cassie meeting Cole in the year 1944. Cassie is heard in the trailer saying he and Cole will be finishing a mission.

More of "12 Monkeys" will be revealed once the show premieres on April 18 at 9 p.m. on Syfy.
