'Alien: Covenant' news, spoilers: Michael Fassbender dishes on 'Prometheus' sequel, says it will be 'much scarier'

(Official Twitter, @PrometheusMovie)"Alien: Covenant" star Michael Fassbender hints on what's coming to "Prometheus" sequel.

If there is anything the "Prometheus" fans should be expecting from the upcoming sequel "Alien: Covenant," it is the next installment's promise of a thrilling ride to horror genre lovers.

Michael Fassbender said through a Collider report that the Ridley Scott-directed sequel will be "much scarier" than the last one. He added: "This Alien is going to be...I'm very excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying this is a film that we all want to see. It's much scarier than Prometheus but it's got the same sort of scope of Prometheus."

Fassbender, who is known to be the only one of the cast members from "Prometheus" to make a return, will be reprising his role as David, the sole survivor of the ship named as "Covenant." From this vantage, Fassbender is deemed as a "symbol of continuity" from the previous entry from the "Alien" film series to the upcoming film.

The upcoming sequel will be primarily focusing on Ripley's encounter with an extraterrestrial gruesomeness as opposed to its predecessor's focus on the characters' discovery of a new world and its grisly elements. The sequel will also be more exploratory in its tone; with a build up that is more controlled in order to give way for the viewers to get into the new plotline comfortably. Moreover, the next film is expected to be more religious to the celebrated science-fiction horror film franchise than what "Prometheus" had offered.

Meanwhile, a photo surfaced recently which showed Daniels' (Katherine Waterston) blunt similarities with Sigourney Weaver's iconic character, Ripley. Waterston was seen wearing a weapon that is bolstered over her one shoulder on a white vest.

"Alien: Covenant" will come in theaters on Aug. 4, 2017.
