AMD Vega GPU vs GeForce GTX 1080 Ti specs, price review: Can AMD defeat NVIDIA's new GPU?

(nvidia.com)GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPU is NVIDIA's fastest gaming GPU ever.

NVIDIA just released its latest high-end graphics processing unit dubbed as the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti this month, but AMD is expected to come out with its next-generation GPU, which will be called the Radeon RX Vega, soon. But can AMD beat NVIDIA's new product line?

Speculations claim that AMD RX Vega could perform as much as 20 to 45 percent higher compared to NVIDIA's new GPU. But while the actual specs for the AMD Radeon RX Vega have yet to be released by the microprocessor manufacturer, a leaked benchmark test came out to reveal what users should look forward to in the upcoming GPU.

Based on the benchmark test, the AMD Vega GPU will have 8 GB of High Bandwidth Memory that comes with a 2,048-bit memory. This will contain two HMB2 stacks that have 4 GB and 1,024-bit memory interface. It will also have 4096 Stream Processors, which could reportedly beat the performance of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti that is claimed to be the "fastest gaming GPU ever" by its manufacturer.

Other reports speculate that the soon-to-be released Vega GPU could possibly come with 12.5 Teraflops of 16-bit compute, which could also be higher compared to NVIDIA's product.

On the other hand, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has been confirmed to feature 3,584 NVIDIA CUDA cores, as well as a bigger 11 GB frame buffer that runs using the powerful 11 Gbps, which is known to be 35 percent faster compared to the company's other GeForce GPUs.

According to early reviews, the price of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti could be expensive, but it performs better compared to its predecessor. This could compensate for the product's high price.

AMD has yet to reveal the actual cost to purchase its upcoming Radeon RX Vega GPU. However, if the company could offer it at a fraction of the cost of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, it might give the competitor a run for its money.
