With creator Ryan Murphy announcing cast news via social media, everyone is humming with excitement about "American Horror Story: Hotel," the fifth season of the very popular "American Horror Story" (AHS) franchise. The first key announcements made months ago were the non-return of Jessica Lange, and the addition of Lady Gaga to the cast.

The inclusion of Lady Gaga to the cast has raised some speculations that maybe with the ending of "Glee," Murphy's love for music and the arts would trickle into the AHS season 5 instead. There might just be merit to these speculations as a lot of the announced cast members actually are known to be talented in either singing or dancing, or even both.

Let's run down what we know so far about the "American Horror Story: Hotel," based on all the reports, Murphy's posts and rumors flying around:

The setting has been confirmed to be in Los Angeles. The jury is still out whether it will be modern day Los Angeles (previous odd-numbered seasons are set in the present) or whether it will be more an Old Hollywood Golden Age type of setting.

There was a Top Hat reference in Season 4 which points to "Top Hat," a classic 1935 movie with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, so this supports the dancing/musical speculation and could also point to a more Hollywood Golden Age setting.

The hotel might be a setting for a massive party or maybe even a dance competition.

Many regular cast members will be back:Sarah Paulson will, for a change, play the baddest bad girl of them all, which should excite Paulson fans who would want to see her sink her teeth into a more villainous character in the franchise.

Evan Peters will be back as a character that is "waiting in room 64," according to Murphy. Will he be a ghost? A spirit? A permanent resident?

Kathy Bates will be back to run the hotel.

Angela Bassett will be back as well to cause a lot of trouble "with Lady Gaga in the ballroom and elsewhere," according to Murphy. Will she be a dance competition contestant, a performer? Will she be "fighting" with Lady Gaga or will the two be on the same side? Or will she be a ghost haunting the hotel's ballroom?

Wes Bentley and Chloe Sevigny will be back. No news yet on what character Bentley will play, but according to Murphy, Sevigny will definitely wreak some havoc in the hotel.

Matt Bomer will be back and he hinted that he may be partnered with Lady Gaga for most of the shoot–a love interest? A dance partner, perhaps? We know Bomer can dance, and he can even sing.

There will be new blood:Lady Gaga of course is the biggest addition, and all we know is that she will be sporting platinum blonde hair—perhaps in the style of Old Hollywood celebrities?

Broadway actress Cheyenne Jackson will join the cast. Again another natural performer, who worked with Murphy in "Glee".

Max Greenfield, who plays Schmidt in "New Girl" has also been confirmed. Murphy teased that Greenfield will appear "like you've never seen him" and promised that even though the actor will check into the hotel, he won't be checking out. Poor Schmidt.

There has been no confirmation on the following regular cast members:Emma Roberts is going to be busy with Murphy's "Scream Queens" but she thinks she might be joining Season 5 "at the end."

Denis O'Hare has not been asked officially, but since he has a contract in force, he might just be included in this season.

Frances Conroy will be too busy with Jason Reitman's new series, so most probably she won't be joining Season 5, which will be a disappointment to fans as she has always been a favorite.

No news on Lily Rabe, but here is another person who is known for her dance moves.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" will premiere in October 2015 on FX.
