'America's Next Top Model' season 21 contestant Mirjana Puhar murdered; 21-year-old suspect arrested

"America's Next Top Model" cycle 21's contestant Mirjana Puhar was shot dead at her home in Tryon Hills neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 19-year-old model was not the only victim of the killer.  Her boyfriend Jonathan Alvarado, 23, and his best friend and roommate Jusmar Gonzaga-Garcia, 21, were the other victims. Mirjana, her boyfriend and his roommate were found on Tuesday evening by the police, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

The accused is 19-year-old Emmanuel Jesus Rangel was charged with three counts of murder and arrested by the police. It seems that the killer knew the victims and the incident is seen as a drug-related problem.

Several viewers of the show have expressed their grief and prayers on social media. Ken Mok and Tyra Banks, executive producers of the show, released a joint statement in which they stated they were deeply saddened by the news and that "she was a vivacious and promising young woman. Our hearts and prayers go out to her loved ones", reports NBC News.

Puhar appeared in season 21 of the show which aired last year. She was the youngest contestant and was often portrayed as the villain of the show. Before being eliminated in episode 10, Mirjana Puhar formed a close bond with model Denzel Wells. The Texas resident revealed on the show that they were close and he knew her very well. Puhar often got into fights and yelling matches with other contestants, some of them even with Wells.

Puhar had a difficult life. She was a child refugee, having escaped Serbia during the Kosovo war in 1999. She dropped out of high school at the age of 12 to pursue modelling. Puhar also worked in McDonald's for some time. She was a troubled teen who skipped school, got into fights and even told a newspaper she was a wild child.
