'Arrested Development' season 5 news, spoilers: Alia Shawkat reveals Maeby's fate; Jeffrey Tambor confirms January filming

(Facebook/ArrestedDevelopment)"Arrested Development" will reportedly start filming in January 2017.

Despite rumors that "Arrested Development" may not see a fifth season, it has been revealed that filming is definitely going to start in January 2017. But what will the show have in store for the Bluth family come season 5?

Season 4 aired way back in 2013 and a lot has happened over the course of three years. However, for one particular character, season 5 may pick up in prison.

Entertainment Weekly recently spoke to Alia Shawkat — whom fans remember as Maeby Fünke, cousin of Michael Cera's George Michael — and she revealed that "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz already has something in mind for her character.

"He was like: 'We pick up with you in the penitentiary!'" Shawkat revealed.

It has been said that Hurwitz has been busy rounding up all of the actors to return for the fifth season, and that includes Shawkat.

"Our agents got phone calls that were like, 'We want to make deals with everybody!' So that's, like, a sign something's happening," she said. "I know Mitch and the other writers were gathered together."

And it looks like Shawkat isn't the only person confirmed to be reprising her role. Jeffrey Tambor, who played George Bluth, Sr. on the show, revealed to Today that he is scheduled to begin filming in the new year.

"My marching orders are to go to work in January," Tambor told the hosts.

Tambor has more recently starred in "Transparent" as Maura Pfefferman--a role that has earned him two Emmy Awards, one Golden Globe Award, and one Screen Actors Guild Award.

Little is known about the storyline of the upcoming season, but Hurwitz did previously reveal that there will not be a lot of Donald Trump jokes because it is "too easy of a parody."

A release date has yet to be set for "Arrested Development" season 5. But with such a loyal fan following, here's hoping that it gets off the ground as planned.
