'Arrow Flash' spin-off news: 3 new superheroes – the traveler, a female warrior and a mystery hero - joining the series

(CW)

"Arrow" and "The Flash" fans are super-excited about the new spin-off series. It was previously revealed that Brandon Routh will play Ray Palmer or the ATOM, Caity Lotz comes back as Sara or the Canary, Wentworth Miller plays Leonard Snart or Captain Cold and Victor Garber will essay the role of Dr. Martin Stein, one half of Firestorm. However, it was also announced that three new characters that have never before been seen on TV will be part of the series. The following is a description of the other three unknown superheroes based on the first casting call:

1. The Traveler – TVLine reports that the character will be a "Hans Solo-esque" rouge replete with charm and hailing from the future. The witty character has traveled to the past on a secret mission. His wit eclipses the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. Because he keeps many secrets, his teammates always wonder where his true allegiance lies.

Based on the description, many websites guess that this is Rip Hunter or Booster Gold but Booster already appeared on an episode of "Smallville". Rip Hunter is the most likely superhero.

2. Female Warrior – Hypable reveals that she is a 20-something Latina who is pretty, unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. At night, she hears the cry of battle and her fury gets ignited turning her into a fierce warrior. She even poses a threat to others. Theories suggest she could be Hawkgirl.

3. Mystery Hero – Described as a 20-something African-American street-smart male who unexpectedly acquires powers, several sites speculate this is Black Lightning or Virgil Ovid Hawkins.

CW plans to skip the pilot season for the spin-off series. Actress Caity Lotz teased audiences at the Fan Fest 2015 Panel that her character Sara Lance may be dead, but that doesn't mean she's gone. The "Arrow" star reminded everyone that Sara has previously died three times, leaving rooms for speculation on a possible resurgence. The spinoff is scheduled to release in 2016 with 16 episodes for the first season.
