'Arrow' season 5 spoilers: Green Arrow to have new costume

(DC Comics)Stephen Amell will have a tweaked costume when he returns as Green Arrow in "Arrow" season 5.

"Arrow" season 5 will showcase Oliver Queen wearing a modified version of his Green Arrow costume, and it is suspected that it will be based on how the character is illustrated in his DC Rebirth comic book incarnation.

It was during a Facebook Live broadcast of Stephen Amell last week when he revealed that his character will be garbed in a slightly modified costume, although he refused to reveal further the extent of the alteration done.

Comic Book movie points out that in the last season of the DC series, Amell was already seen donning a costume similar to what the character wears in the comics: a sleeveless armor. With this, it is now suspected that the character's newest costume will be based on the newest version of which that came along with the re-launch of the character, along with other DC superheroes via the DC Rebirth.

The DC Rebirth version of the character and his costume, though, does not really depart from what fans of the series and the earlier versions of comic book have gotten used to. If Amell's Green Arrow costume will, indeed, be based on DC Rebirth, fans can still expect him to wear practically the same thing as the newest costume also maintains the pauldron that partly covers his exposed biceps, a pair of boots, hood, and other components of the character's original superhero outfit. Perhaps, the most notable difference is that the costume comes in a lighter shade of green, while the abdomen area has been changed to brown from the dark shade of green.

Meanwhile, apart from looking forward to Amell's slightly modified costume, fans of the series can also relish the fact that "Arrow's" season 5 will not be its last. Earlier, there were rumors claiming that the series would take a bow after its forthcoming fifth season since the flashbacks of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on the island already ended. However, Amell shut down the speculations by saying that he is still bound to do more of "Arrow," thanks to his contract.

"Originally there was a five-year plan but that relates purely to the flashbacks... I'm under contract for a couple more years," said Amell during the said Facebook Live session.

Arrow returns to The CW on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET for its season 5 run.
