"Avatar" sequel or as what they call it for now, "Avatar 2," is still pretty far from its expected theatrical release. However, various news reports have emerged suggesting the theme of the next movie installment and it is said that it will have lots of underwater scenes, as well as a prison theme.

According to the report by The Hollywood Reporter, a few years back, "Avatar" director, James Cameron, revealed that the sequel will feature many underwater scenes, which was the reason why it has been in the early production phase for quite some time now. The other reason for the delay was that the team behind it is still waiting for more advanced technology to produce top quality CGI that will effectively capture actors while performing underwater.

That was a few years back though. Now, a new update has finally emerged and it has suggested the theme of "Avatar 2."

The detail was first revealed by one of the two remaining candidates for the poster designing contest of "Avatar 2," Gökşan Özman. The designer explained that he used it as the center theme for his poster.

"A prison theme will dominate the story and I have focused on that theme while designing this poster," Ozman said via News Fulton County. Sadly, the designer did not indicate the purpose of this prison or if it will be used for the humans or the alien race, Na'Vi.

And it is not just the theme which has been revealed. Ozman also hinted on the year when "Avatar 2" will be released. In his interview, he said, "I am really excited about the result. My target is to come first in designing the poster for Avatar which will come out in 2017."

However, nothing much has been officially confirmed as of the moment, so it would be best for fans to take the news with a grain of salt.
