The new season of "Blue Bloods" is expected to bring more challenges for Danny (Donnie Wahlberg).

After an exciting sixth season of "Blue Bloods," the upcoming season is expected to present a more personal challenge for Danny. The season showed an interesting turn of events when an accident was handled incorrectly.

Season 7 of "Blue Bloods" is said to see Danny deal with the aftermath of his near death experience. This is because he will end up tackling the repercussions of a past case, which will bring Michael Lewis, played by Michael Imperioli, back to the picture. With that, he is expected to make things more difficult for him.

The previous season saw the police department faced with obstacles when it was reported that one of the policemen shot and killed someone. With that, the public became outraged, which will surely bring a bearing on Danny's future.

However, that is not the only challenge he will face. The upcoming season will start off with a car crash, which will see Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie (Vanessa Ray) rushing to the scene. With that, they will then find out that a public figure is the one behind the wheel.

In addition, familiar characters are expected to bring more trouble to the group. It was reported that the Reagan family will also be back to add to the drama. Tom Selleck will be reclaiming his role as Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. This is expected to shake up the plot of the upcoming season.

With that, many are hoping to hear more about what will take place in the upcoming season of the series. Production for season 7 is set to begin this week, which means that fans can expect some updates from the series.

"Blue Bloods" season 7 is expected to air starting Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
