After Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) caught Pelant (Andrew Leeds), they will not go on vacation. Instead, they will face another killer who tortures his victims for a long period of time before he makes them into real-life puppets.

The synopsis for episode 14 says that the team will be investigating the death of a drug dealer who suddenly disappeared while being transferred to a halfway house. He soon resurfaced, but he was dead. During their investigation, the team discovered that Booth's friend may have something to do with the disappearance, thus also making him a suspect.

In the promo video of the next episode, the voiceover also hints that the next case will test Booth's loyalty, as shown in a scene where he has a conversation about it with Aubrey (John Boyd) .

Another scene also shows Booth being suspended from his services in the FBI, and based on his and Brennan's reaction, they were both surprised by the decision.

According to the synopsis, Brennan will be asked to testify regarding her assault of an unarmed civilian in an earlier episode. The outcome of the hearing will determine Brennan's fate and whether she will be suspended or not because of her behavior. However, it was Booth who got suspended and not her, as seen in the promo video.

In an interview on TV Guide, Bones executive producer Michael Peterson said that the new serial killer is similar to Pelant. However, he added that there would be more of a horror element to this new serial killer because he is going to "represent a different kind of danger."

"Pelant started off as a hacktivist character and was smarter than [a lot] of people combined," Peterson said. "This will be a little more terrifying of a character."

"Bones" is aired every Thursday at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
