Fans of one of the most successful manga-anime franchises, "Naruto," will be delighted to know that their long-requested TV series focusing on Naruto Uzumaki's son, Boruto, is finally happening next year.

The announcement was made during the Naruto X Boruto event at the annual anime and manga expo in Tokyo called Jump Festa held last Dec. 17. During the panel appearance of "Naruto" mastermind Masashi Kishimoto, he confirmed that the Japanese manga "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" will finally get its TV airtime sometime in April 2017.

The manga version of "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" started publication last May with Shueisha and Viz Media as its publishers. The story will feature the time of Naruto's leadership as the seventh Hokage of Konoha while his eldest child, Boruto, starts his own journey as a ninja along with a whole new set of characters that compose the next generation of shinobis.

Along with Boruto, fans can also watch the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, Sarada, making her own mark as a ninja. They will also be joined by Orochimaru's son, Mitsuki. Their team leader will be Konohamaru Sarutobi, the grandson of the third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Crunchyroll reported that the "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" TV adaptation will be produced by Studio Pierrot.

The "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" TV anime series will premiere on TV Tokyo. Its premiere for North America and other regions is yet to be announced.

During the panel at Jump Fest, Kishimoto was joined by the voice actors for the upcoming anime's main characters Boruto (Yuuko Sanpei), Sarada ( Kokoro Kikuchi), Mitsuki (Ryuichi Kijima), and Naruto (Junko Takeuchi).

Anime News Network also reported that Kishimoto promised the attendees of Jump Festa, "I plan to make it even better than 'Naruto.'"

Even the voice actors cannot hide their excitement for the premiere of the anime series. According to the same Crunchyroll report, Sanpei commented: "There's so much I want to see. I hope to go on exciting adventures with Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki and the rest of the gang in my work. I hope you enjoy BORUTO as much as you did NARUTO! Watch me be awesome!"
