'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' beta dates differ; game to hit shelves November

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is already in the pipeline but the popular first-shooter game will undergo a beta testing stage first before it is formally released.

"Call of Duty" publisher, Activision, made the announcement on its company blog but added that information on how the beta phase will be conducted and other pertinent details will be handled by Treyarch, the game's developer.

The beta stage will be conducted at two separate events. Beta testing for the PlayStation 4 will run from Aug.19 to Aug. 23 while gamers playing on the Xbox One and PC will have their beta run from Aug. 26 to Aug. 30. Both groups will enjoy five days of beta access.

However, only gamers who pre-order the game before the beta dates start will be given access to "Call of Duty's" newest "Black Ops" game.

According to Scott Lowe, Activision's communications manager, the multiplayer beta is available not only to those who "pre-orders 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' on PS4, Xbox One, or PC from a participating retailer" but also to those who pre-order from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store and from Steam.

Gamers will then be given beta codes to redeem. The codes will be given via the retail receipt or sent online through email. However, those who pre-ordered through the PlayStation or Xbox Live are automatically registered so no codes are necessary.

There is no information yet regarding the scope of the beta stage or what gameplay will be made available, but Activision guarantees that participants will be able to experience firsthand how "Black Ops 3's" gameplay will look and feel.

Lowe excitedly added that the beta stage will give fans the "opportunity to try the new momentum-based, chained movement system, find the perfect Specialist to fit their play style, get a feel for the new multiplayer maps, and more."

The next installation of the "Black Ops" franchise reportedly has a "blank slate" feature that allows the gamer to choose whether the protagonist is a male or female.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is set to be released on Nov. 6 on all gaming platforms.
