The Season 2 ending of 'Chicago Fire' showed a burning warehouse explode with most of the show's main characters inside it. Regarding who lived or died will likley be revealed in the 'Chicago Fire' Season 3 premiere, which is set to happen on September 23.

According to the show's executive producer, a death among the series prominent cast members is inevitable.

"Someone has to die. [And] someone does," Matt Olmstead said in a statement to TVLine.

The show's producer stated that the succeeding turn of events in the next season will be dictated by what will happen to the characters inside the burning building.

Olmstead, however, did not provide specific names on who will be cut off or not. Instead, the producer hinted that Severide will be battling tough mental and personal obstacles this season, resulting to a "self-loss."

"As we've established on the show, he's prone to going off on his own and having a few cocktails when things don't go his way," Olmstead continued.

"[It] might cause a problem with him and [Chicago P.D.'s] Lindsay. The thing we like about him and Lindsay is they're cut from the same cloth. They don't judge each other. No one's ragging on the other person for not being available. They're really similar," the executive producer added further.

In other 'Chigaco Fire'-related news, Graceland actress Serinda Swan is confirmed to join the Season 3 cast.
