'Chicago Fire' season 5 spoilers: Hearts will be on fire this season

(Facebook / Chicago Fire)"Chicago Fire" will set hearts on flame in the upcoming season.

Two new pairs will figure in a romantic story arc in the upcoming season 5 of "Chicago Fire" that will premiere this fall.

A doctor from another series is joining the cast of "Chicago Fire" for season 5 and he will waste no time to figure in a love story. Actor Scott Elrod, who played a doctor on "Grey's Anatomy," will figure in multi-episodes as Travis Brenner.

Travis is described to be drop-dead gorgeous who has a million followers on his Instagram account. He will meet resident heartthrob Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) during a fire call and the two will hit it off and become buddies.

Executive producer Derek Haas describes the character even more as a guy who always has a party and new adventure going on. "He feels like Severide is a real guy, not the usual hanger-on, entourage type of guy that he's used to hanging out with, so he's attracted to Severide in that way." He further adds, "He's going to cause some mischief over the first three episodes."

Another romance about to happen is a crossover between "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." It will involve Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), respectively.

Co-executive producer Matt Olmstead said, "There's plenty to play in terms of the May-December version of Brett to Antonio — his character has a couple kids, he's divorced, no way should he be with this woman, but she's had her heart broken. She's looking for a real man, he qualifies. He's looking for a real soul, a real heart, and she qualifies."

Romance on crossovers is not new to the show as this has happened before between Severide and "Chicago P.D.'s" Lindsay (Sophia Bush). Although intense, their relationship did not work out. Mouch (Christian Stolte) and the other show's Platt (Amy Morton), on the other hand, managed to make it work and eventually got married.

"Chicago Fire" season 5 will premiere on Oct. 11 on NBC.
