'Chicago PD' season 4 spoilers: Voight loses fuse, Burgess recommits

(NBC)Season 4 of "Chicago PD" to show a different side of Voight.

Voight continues to be unhinged when "Chicago PD" returns for its fourth season later this year. NBC has yet to release an official premiere date, but season 4 is expected to arrive sometime in September.

Chicago PD's Intelligence Unit will be forever changed following the events of the season 3 finale. Voight resorted to criminal acts, in order to avenge the death of his son Justin. In season 4, viewers will see Voight in a new light.

"We're going to see a different side of him, because he goes from short fuse to no fuse. It's not going back to what we call the other side of the street... It's not like he's in self-destruct mode," showrunner Matt Olmstead told TVLine.

However, it doesn't seem like the Intelligence Unit will fracture or fall apart. They understand what Voight is going through and will just continue to keep an eye on him. While other departments might not be accepting of Voight's new methods, they cannot deny the good work that the Intelligence Unit does.

Season 4 will also see a new side to Burgess as she recommits to her job. After being involved with two co-workers, Burgess decides to take a vow of celibacy and will instead focus on her job as a cop. The departure of Roman will also mean a new partner for Burgess in season 4.

"We're looking for someone to come in and partner with Burgess to really re-launch that pairing of two uniforms; a robust pairing as opposed to having to carry somebody or I'm going to look sideways at somebody. We want somebody to come in who is already in fifth gear," Olmstead told The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Lindsay and Halstead shippers can expect to see more development in the upcoming season. The two might possibly move in together, and given that they are two very independent individuals, viewers will see how they adjust to this new situation.

Season 4 of "Chicago PD" premieres this fall.
