Rumors about a new "Crash Bandicoot" game being in the works have been doing the rounds for some time now. However, during the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo, news was made public of three games in the franchise being remastered for the PlayStation 4 console.

Reporting on the upcoming "Crash Bandicoot" games, Ubergizmo states that even though they are going to be remastered editions and not new offerings, the games are going to capture a lot of attention from gamers. The site also goes on to say that the classic versions of the game are still very popular with gamers as they have fond memories of playing it on the original PlayStation.

Making the announcement about the three remastered games, Sony pointed out that they were "Crash Bandicoot," also "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back," and "Crash Bandicoot: Warped." These three games however have not been given a release date as of yet but they will be remastered for the PlayStation 4 console which is the next generation offering from Sony.

In the meantime, gamers will not have to wait for the remastered editions of these games to get their fill of Crash Bandicoot. This is because the character is going to be featured in the "Skylanders Imaginators" game, which is expected to release before the remastered games.

Earlier this year, there was homage to "Crash Bandicoot" within the game "Uncharted 4" and this stoked rumors that a new game was in the works. There was also a set of rumors that Sony has acquired the rights of the "Crash Bandicoot" franchise from Activision. However, when Sony made the announcement pertaining to the three games at E3 2016, it made it clear that it had entered into a special agreement with Activision for this purpose. This is a clear indication that the rights of "Crash Bandicoot" still lie with Activision. More importantly, players who have never experienced the "Crash Bandicoot" games stand to benefit the most from the remastered editions as they will get to experience the game in its original glory.
