'Crash Bandicoot' PS4 release: Remastered versions coming for PS4

(PlayStation.com)"Crash Bandicoot" continues to be a popular multi-platform video game. During the recently held Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony announced the remastering of its first three games, which was later announced to be released in 2017.

Sony was one of the most-awaited presenters during the recently held Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Aside from the many wonderful games scheduled for release, the announcement of the remastered versions of "Crash Bandicoot" caused excitement, especially among the older gamers.

"Crash Bandicoot" was one of the first most successful games that was introduced using the PlayStation console. It was first presented by Sony during the E3 in May 1996 and the release soon followed. Gamers took an instant liking to the game, prompting the development and release of the sequel game called "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back." The popularity of the game continued to soar, making way for the third and final sequel, "Crash Bandicoot: Warped." The game continued to be developed for different platforms including many designs.

Talks about reviving the game have made the rounds years before, but it was not until last month when the possibility hinted on becoming a reality. Sony has been teasing about the game's return through its other games, and during the E3 2016, it has been confirmed. The announcement was made by Sony Interactive Entertainment president Shawn Layden.

During the announcement, no release date was announced, but the main protagonist of the "Crash Bandicoot" named Crash will appear in the upcoming "Skylander Imaginators: Crash Edition." The special edition will be released in October for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 modules.

While gamers thought it would take a while for the remastered versions to be published, a follow-up statement by Activision was released soon after, stating, "Alongside Crash's role in 'Skylanders Imaginators," today, it was also announced today that next year, we plan to launch a remastered collection of the first three 'CrashBandicoot' games — 'Crash Bandicoot,' 'Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back' and 'Crash Bandicoot: Warped' — for PlayStation 4."
