'Criminal Minds' Season 11 spoilers: Jennifer Love Hewitt and JJ Cooks won't be in upcoming season

(CBS/official Facebook page)What is in store for viewers in "Criminal Minds" Season 11?

Season 10 of "Criminal Minds" came to a close on May 6. Fans have been raving about the finale, expressing their satisfaction with "Criminal Minds" having brought the series' arch to a full circle.

The last episode saw the reintroduction of online predators featured at the onset of the series. A more sinister plot line was explored, uncovering the unsubs' relation to a massive human sex-trafficking ring.

Season 10 was an exceptionally exciting one for the show, having brought in an A- Lister to join the cast. Jennifer Love Hewitt, famous for "The Ghost Whisperer" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer", had signed up for season 10 of "Criminal Minds" to play the role of Kate Callahan, a former FBI agent.

While fans were in awe of Hewitt's performance and wanted for her to stay on with the show, it has been confirmed that the star will not be a part of the cast for season 11. Both Hewitt and co-star JJ Cooks have announced their pregnancies, and have taken leave from "Criminal Minds".

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Erica Messer, the show's executive producer, claimed that they would love to have both the actresses back should they want to join the cast again:

"We like people to come back and play whenever they can, so we don't kill them off" said Messer. "None of us thought at the beginning of the season we'd end the year with two pregnant actresses! And right now, it's too soon to say what would happen in two years if we're lucky enough to have a season 12. We would love to have her back."

According to a report by TV Guide, Messer also dropped hints about what would happen next to the other characters, especially Dr. Spencer Reid who had a tough time during the series:

"We want him to smile again and we think everybody else does too. "

CBS has not yet announced the show's renewal and has not set any official release date.
