'Daredevil' season 3 release date, spoilers: is Bullseye season 3's main villain?

(Facebook/Daredevil)Marvel and Netflix recently announced that there will be a season 3 of "Daredevil."

Marvel and Netflix have finally put "Daredevil" fans out of their misery by announcing that a season 3 is on the way.

The very welcome announcement was made by Marvel's Joe Quesada during the "Luke Cage" panel at this year's Comic-Con.

It was inconceivable that "Daredevil" would not be getting a third season, given how popular the series is. However, as Marvel and Netflix also have "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist," and "Defenders" in the pipeline, fans got worried that the critically acclaimed series would be shunted to the side temporarily to make way for their other Marvel shows.

Unfortunately, no other information was given regarding when the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will return, but fans did get a short teaser on Twitter.

There might have been a serious lack of "Daredevil" information at Comic-Con, but that hasn't stopped fans from speculating on possible story arcs for next season. For instance, Daredevil might be facing Bullseye this time around, while Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) continues to be a threat to Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox).

Cox previously told Screen Rant that he "can't imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn't show up at some point," especially as the character has a history with Karen Page.

Aside from the arrival of a new villain, it's also possible that Fisk will finally uncover Murdock's secret in season 3. Kingpin wants to destroy Matt's and Foggy's lives in retaliation for having him jailed so it's possible that the criminal mastermind will discover some leverage against the lawyer.

There are undoubtedly legions of fans who want to see Elektra (Elodie Yung) return. While it will be good to see her reunited with Daredevil, the recently released teaser for "Defenders" seems to suggest that the beautiful assassin will instead make an appearance in the upcoming series.

The teaser, which is set to the haunting strains of Nirvana's "Come as You Are," shows a collage of various clippings and images that hint at the four "Defenders." The clip ends with a shot of the word "Defend," with the outline of a hand behind it. Fans will recall that the Hand has plans to resurrect Elektra. Stick's voice is then heard asking if the four think they can save New York and tells them "you can't even save yourselves."

There's no word yet of when "Daredevil" season 3 will be streamed on Netflix.
