The first 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' film grossed over $200 million in the US, with accumulated box office sales of $700 million worldwide. A sequel is already well underway with Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar and Matt Reeves still directing the film, which is slated for release on July 29, 2016.

Now that the Blu-Ray disc version of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is out, Matt Reeves hinted on the plot of the follow-up film, teasing that Caesar will be involved in a "Moses-like" agenda to gather his kind and follow him.

"[We want] the story to be able to connect from the human to the ape world. So first one, [Rise of the Planet of the Apes] is this sort of how [Caesar] goes from humble beginnings to becoming a revolutionary," said Reeves in an interview with Coming Soon.

"The notion of what we're after in the third is continue that trajectory to how he becomes the seminal figure in ape history and almost becomes sort of like an ape Moses of sorts, a kind of mythic ascension," added Reeves.

Serkis did confirm that the plot is leaning heavily towards "war," alongside the fact that the ape community has been divided.

"The ape community has fallen apart. There's potential war. He's going to have to lead the apes in darker times. I think it's going to be very powerful," said Serkis in a Hollywood Reporter interview.
