The Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync may have been huge rivals back in the day but now, the boys are banding and bonding over a western zombie film. The horror film will be produced by the same minds behind the Syfy made-for-TV film series, "Sharknado."

Rolling Stone reports that some members from the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync are teaming up for a futuristic, post-apocalyptic film which involves a lot of gore and zombies. Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter, says of the film, "It's a zombie Western futuristic horror movie. My character is still being worked out right now, but I'm a good guy that's going to help save the day."

Of course, Carter has to be a good guy and of course he has to save the day; he is, after all, writing the script for the film. Also cast in the film are his fellow Backstreet Boys, Howie Dorough and A.J. McLean and 'N Sync's, Joey Fatone. But Carter says he still wants more musicians and boyband members to star in the film tentatively titled, "Dead 7."

"There's a wish list of people that I want. I want it to be musically based. I might reach out to Jordan [Knight] from the New Kids on the Block," he says.

The concept for the film was pitched by the 35-year-old Backstreet Boy to The Asylum's, David Latt. Carter wanted a genre film featuring a number of pop stars and Latt says the idea appealed to him as a lot of their distributors and partner companies "[respond] to that immediately."

McLean, who is set to play a villain in "Dead 7," says the material they have has the potential to generate a cult following, much like the "Sharknado" franchise which recently premiered "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!"

And despite Carter's inexperience with film-making, Latt says Carter's love of horror films and sci-fi stuff make him a shoo-in to head this project.

The Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync had a huge but friendly rivalry in the 1990s, with each group having a massive following and each fan base claiming their idol is the best boyband of all time. The title has since been snatched away by recent groups like One Direction, but the two are still making waves with old and new fans alike. Fatone also says that despite fans trying to pit them against each other, the two groups never had any animosity.

Details for "Dead 7" are still being ironed out and will be posted as soon as they are available. Stay tuned for updates.
