(Facebook/DeadpoolMovie)"Deadpool 2" is set to hit the cinemas on Jan. 12, 2018.

The sequel of Ryan Reynolds' raunchy, R-rated blockbuster movie "Deadpool" is confirmed to hit the cinemas on January 2018. Fans have been guessing about the movie's release date ever since the actor posted an intriguing fan-made artwork in July on his Instagram account.

It has been previously discussed by writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick that a 2017 premiere would not be feasible. In their previous interview, they said that they were planning to take their time working on "Deadpool 2." They also denied the rumors that the sequel would take over the slot of "Fantastic Four 2" on June 2017. According to Reese, they want to make sure that the viewers will only get the best as a way of thanking them for their support on the first movie.

"We like to take our time, we're lazy screenwriters. ... Look, that's entirely above our heads, but we'll write the very best screenplay we can write if we're fortunate enough to get that sequel, and we'll write it as quickly as they tell us we need to write it. When they say jump, we say how high," Reese said.

Meanwhile, recent updates are centered on which actor will get to portray Cable, Deadpool's nemesis. Rumors claim that the frontrunner is Kyle Chandler (Bloodline and Super 8). As per Screenrant, Chandler's name has been mentioned several times with regards to the Cable role. Other actors allegedly being scouted for the role are Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman and Dolph Lundgren. 20th Century Fox, however, has yet to comment on the said speculations.

One name that took the fans by surprise is Liam Neeson's. According to Heroic Hollywood's regular scooper Umberto Gonzalez, Fox wants the veteran actor to play the role. He recently posted on his Twitter account that the film studio believes that Neeson is the perfect man to play Cable. Director Tim Miller, however, is said to be against the suggestion.
