The popularity of the Korean series "Descendants of the Sun" refuses to die down months after the last episode aired. The show is a hit not just in Korea and other Asian countries but in other parts of the world as well. Such is the show's impact, the fans of the show are eagerly anticipating for a second season.

Producers of the show have said that to show their gratitude to their many viewers, they will strive to create a sequel that will be shown by 2017. Co-writer Kim Won-Seok is not keen on the idea of a sequel as he has already told the story he wanted to tell. Furthermore, lead stars Song Joong Ki (Yoo Shi Jin) and Song Hye Kyo (Kang Mo Yeon), who have been catapulted to international stardom, are busy with prior commitments to say yes to a season 2.

There is no official announcement from KBS yet, but reports claim that production for season 2 has already started. Rumors surrounding the plot also claim that the story will focus on the secondary pair of the show, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo) and Yoon Myeong Joo (Kim Ji Won).

Dae Young played the best friend and fellow soldier of Shi Jin. He is in love with fellow soldier Myeong Joo, but their relationship had to be kept a secret because the latter's father is pairing her with Shi Jin instead. In the past, Mo Yeon and Myeong Joo were involved in a love triangle with a character who was not shown on the show.

While the two girls figured in a handful of funny girly exchanges, Dae Young and Shi Jin's bromance provided touching moments on the show. All is well when the show ended. The girls reconciled and became good friends, Dae Young and Myeong Joo were given freedom to love each other and the two romantic pairs had a happy ending.

Since the secondary pair has earned many followers as well, many of the fans welcome the idea that season 2 will explore their story deeper.
