'Devious Maids' season 5 renewed? Lifetime cancels series due to low ratings?

(Facebook/deviousmaids)"Devious Maids" season 4 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.

"Devious Maids" is coming to an end with its season 4 finale airing on Monday. However, the series has yet to receive a renewal order for a fifth season from its network, Lifetime. The lack of an announcement, coupled with the fourth season's consistently low ratings, has led many to believe that the show could be axed altogether.

The Lifetime series has been on the receiving end of poor ratings this season. And while there are many factors that could have contributed to this, fans are just worried that the show may be looking at a cancellation. The network has kept mum on future plans for the show, but this is not entirely a bad thing.

It should be noted that "Devious Maids" only got the green light for a fourth season in September last year. This means that Lifetime could either be taking its time or that it is normally the schedule by which the network adheres. Either way, there is still hope for the mystery comedy-drama series and the future is not entirely bleak yet.

For now, the best fans can do is wait for an official announcement from the network since the cancellation rumors are still unconfirmed.

In the meantime, viewers can tune in to the season 4 finale of "Devious Maids." Titled "Grime and Punishment," it looks like a lot of secrets will be revealed in the upcoming episode. TVLine managed to get a sneak preview of the finale ahead of time and the clip boasts a very intriguing scene set in a cafe.

The video sees Rosie (Dania Ramirez) in a tell-all regarding Peri's (Mariana Klaveno) murder. She doesn't shy away from revealing the details she learned. This results in Marisol (Ana Ortiz) spilling the beans about Hugh Metzger's rape case from way back. And right on cue, Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) visibly panics.

The season 4 finale of "Devious Maids" will air on Aug. 8, Monday, on Lifetime.
