'Divergent' series news: Fans still urge Veronica Roth to change the movie's ending

Instead of being "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" Part 1 and Part 2, the last movie in the franchise will be titled "The Divergent Series: Ascendant." The third movie in the series is mere months away from its premiere, however given the title change, fans cannot stop talking about what lies in store come the debut of "Ascendant."

With the name of the movie different, followers of "Divergent" has been urging Veronica Roth, the author of the books the film adaptations were based from, to consider changing the end of the last movie as well with Tris surviving the entire ordeal.

Roth however has since confirmed that the novel and the adaptation would see the same ending. According to the author, there were already ideas as to how to go about her salvation however she thinks that Tris not sacrificing her own life would undermine the story.

"I thought about other options," she said. "But the more I thought about them, the more I felt like they weren't really doing justice to her story. This is a very intense transformation that she undergoes, and to have her just be like, 'OK, well, we saved the day. Let's wander off into the sunset together,' it just didn't feel right. She earned a more powerful ending to her story than that." explained Roth.

Tris herself, Shia Woodley, supports the decision of Roth saying:

"I think that it's a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks everyday ends up living,"

Nevertheless, "Divergent: Ascendant" is reported to feature a lot of background stories among the characters. Sources say that audiences would get to see Four as a child and Tris' mother as a young girl.

"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" will be released in theaters in March 2016 while Ascendant will hit cinemas in March 2017.
