'Doctor Strange' news and update: Ben Davie teases 'dark' movie with a 'very psychedelic grounding'

(Marvel)Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Doctor Strange.

Marvel's "Doctor Strange" is still clouded in mystery and nothing much has been revealed about the debut of Stephen Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it seems like that will change, as recently, "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" director of photography, Ben Davis, has finally shared some interesting details about the upcoming debut film.

The cinematographer has shed some light about the film during the BAFTA Masterclass at London last Aug. 4, 2015. Davis teased the fans that the upcoming film is going to be unique and he even called it as "Marvel's Fantasia," according to Screendaily.

"It has a very psychedelic grounding, and it's not your typical Marvel action movie," Davis said. "Most of the work within it is about other dimensions. And I described it, I think, when I was talking to Marvel as Marvel's Fantasia, in a way, because it's so sort of out there and different to everything else that they've done."

The cinematographer also added that the film is going to be interesting and that fans can expect a much darker movie, pretty much different from the previous films from the MCU. "It's all very out there. I can't really say much more about it, I'm afraid. But I think it'll be really interesting, and it's a very dark movie, I'm pleased to say," Davis remarked.

The film, "Doctor Strange," will feature a whole new dimension in the MCU, mainly the Astral Plane and will possibly further explain the Quantum Realm that was previously shown in the recent "Ant-Man" movie.

Unfortunately, Davis only shared some vague details about the movie and the plot of the film is still being kept tightly secured from prying eyes.

"Doctor Strange" is set to premiere in cinemas next year, Nov. 4, 2016. It is going to be the second movie for the MCU phase three after "Captain America: Civil War," which is slated for a May 6, 2016 release.
