'Doctor Strange' update: Rachel McAdams confirms casting

(Marvel)Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Doctor Strange.

"Doctor Strange" already has a stellar cast in Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tilda Swinton. But Marvel seems set in making it an even more impressive cast, with the addition of another remarkable actress.

Earlier this week, Rachel McAdams spoke with The Wrap at the Toronto Film Festival. Asked what her next project is, the 36-year-old actress finally let it slip, "I'm gonna go do 'Doctor Strange.' A Marvel, kind of a psychedelic Marvel comic." She adds that she's "looking forward" to working with Benedict Cumberbatch, who was cast in the titular role of Stephen Strange.

Of course, the publication tried to ask McAdams which role she's going to play, going as far as to say that they'll "protect" her against Marvel. But the actress just simply said, "I don't know if I can."

Den of Geek, though, has a sneaking suspicion that the Canadian actress will step into the shoes of sorceress, Clea. Hailing from the Dark Dimension, Clea will be guiding Doctor Strange when he explores her mystical world. She also once ruled the Dark Dimension and is the daughter of Prince Orini and Umar plus niece of the tyrant Dormammu. Comic book writer, Brian Michael Bendis, describes her relationship with Doctor Strange as very similar to what Doctor Strange had with the Ancient One; just that with them, Strange is the teacher and she is the student.

But McAdams as Clea is mere speculation at the moment. Just like most of what everybody know about the Marvel film.

Not much has been revealed about the movie regarding the story and plot line but the Ancient One is definitely making an appearance and she will be played by English actress, Swinton. Her disciple, Baron Mordo, is also there and will be played by Golden Globe-nominated actor, Ejiofor.

"Doctor Strange" is directed by Scott Derrickson and will hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
