The first season of ABC's "Dr. Ken" has already concluded, but the show hasn't been given the signal for a second season yet. It seems that the sitcom is stuck in limbo as of now since their network has not decided on whether a second season is warranted or not.

"Dr. Ken" has reportedly managed to keep an acceptable amount of viewers tuned in, but the numbers aren't very great. However, since it's only the show's first season, it's likely that it may be given another chance to prove itself. After all, most shows don't fully blossom until the second season.

Although the comedy series was not received very well by critics, the show offers up a refreshing throwback to three-camera sitcoms in the past, complete with laugh tracks. The ongoing trend doesn't seem like it's going away, with many shows adopting the same format.

There are also a lot of good characters on the show, including the titular Dr. Ken, who was played by creator Ken Jeong. The show is based on Jeong's life prior to his career in show business. He has a medical degree and served as a doctor before breaking out as an actor in "Knocked Up." He has since become known for his roles in "Community" and the "Hangover" franchise.

Speaking of "Community," three different actors from that show have already made guest appearances on "Dr. Ken." Joel McHale, Danny Pudi and Jim Rash have already lent their skills in the first season alone, which means other stars from the cult hit could follow in future seasons.

Even though it hasn't done too well critically, some think that the show could use a second season to really reach its potential. ABC still has time to make a final decision concerning its renewal, but other shows in its roster have already been renewed prior to the deadline. It's all up to the network now and fans can only hope for the best at this point.
