'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' release date Oct. 25; classic characters to be absent

(Facebook/DBZ.videogames)"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will drop on Oct. 25.

Excitement is building as the release date of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" draws closer. But when fans get their hands on the game on Oct. 25, they should not expect classic "Dragon Ball" characters to be included.

Even though the game is adding a ton of new features and faces, the one thing fans are not happy about is the absence of "Dragon Ball" classics. However, producer Masayuki Hirano has explained the reasoning behind this decision while speaking with Crunchyroll at Gamescom 2016 in Germany.

Hirano stated that the idea of incorporating classic characters was scrapped because it would not be a fair game. The old characters do not have the ability to fly and had to use certain tools to be able to move around. This is very much unlike the new characters who already have flying capabilities. Having both types within the game will only prove to be unfair and leveling the playing field is very important.

As for what the game will entail, fans can look forward to better overall controls. It will come a lot easier for players this time around when it comes to smooth controls. Additionally, there will be two main modes: single player and multiplayer.

Both modes are expected to perform quite well, but an exciting addition to the multiplayer mode is the feature that allows players to form teams in order to take down boss enemies. This is called the "Expert Mission."

Despite the story being the same in measure, Hirano has said that players can look forward to more side quests that will make them feel like the game is longer.

Black Goku, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta, and Janemba are only some of the new faces that fans can expect in the game. However, it is still possible that they will get to see some old characters — just not in the main game. A DLC may still be in the cards, but it depends on how much fans want it, as Hirano has said.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is poised to conduct an open beta test sometime soon, which means fans should keep their eyes peeled for more information.
