'Elder Scrolls 6', 'Fallout 4': new RPG game expected from Bethesda at E3 2015

The fifth installment of the popular action role-playing open world fantasy video game, "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" was released four years ago. Since then, rumors have been circulating online about the game's probable release date, title and gameplay of its sixth installment.

Fans are hoping that Bethesda Softworks will finally shed some light on their questions at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) ,where the developer will hold its first ever press conference. The E3 event is mostly held to unveil a collection of upcoming games and Bethesda has confirmed that one of its games to be showcased at the event will be an RPG title, which means it could be either "Elder Scrolls 6" or "Fallout 4".

Bethesda's development team, led by Todd Howard, is known to typically work on one game at a time, meaning that if "Fallout 4" is confirmed, then "Elder Scrolls" fans could be in for a longer wait before the sixth installment is released. But the reverse is also true for "Fallout 4" fans. Either way, the E3 press conference will once and for all confirm the rumors or debunk them.

On a positive note, Bethesda has been consistently releasing "Elder Scrolls" sequels every four to five years with "Skyrim" released in 2011, "Oblivion" in 2006, "Morrowind" in 2002, and so on. Apart from "Elder Scrolls Online" (which is not really a sequel), fans believe that it's about time that Bethesda released the next installment for the RPG.

Another rumor fueling the fans' anticipation is Bethesda's trademark for the name "Redguard." According to Crossmap, fans initially believed that the name was for one of Skyrim's downloadable content (DLC). Years later, the name still hasn't been used even in "Elder Scrolls: Online", leading fans to speculate that the name is actually for "Elder Scrolls 6". The last DLC for "Skyrim" was released in 2013, which makes it safe to assume that Bethesda was already working on "Elder Scrolls 6" back then.

Bethesda's pre-E3 2015 press conference begins on June 14, 2015.
