CBS recently confirmed the shows that it will be renewing. So far, the list it has announced contains 16 titles, and it does not include its contemporary adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, "Elementary."

Is season 5 going to be the final installment of "Elementary?" Or will Jonny Lee Miller return as the eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as his acquaintance, Dr. Joan Watson?

"Elementary" is currently in its fifth season, and is six episodes away from its finale. Although the network's list does not include "Elementary," it does not necessarily imply that it has closed its doors to renewing the show.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that CBS has decided to renew "Blue Bloods," "Hawaii Five-O," "Life in Pieces," "Madam Secretary," "Mom," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "NCIS: New Orleans," Scorpion," "Bull," "Kevin Can Wait," "MacGyver," "Man with a Plan," and "Superior Donuts." Joining the series renewals is the long-running reality show "Survivor," and the newsmagazine TV programs "60 minutes" and "48 Hours."

"Elementary" just aired its episode for the week, which was titled "Dead Man's Tale." The show will be on a short break, and will return with an all-new episode on the Sunday after next, April 9, with episode 19.

The network has kept mum about the following episode, but rumor has it that the final arc for the season will be introduced soon. This will be the main subject of the final six episodes of the current installment, reports say.

Again, the fifth season of "Elementary" is still ongoing. Reports say that the show has not been performing well, and the that rating for the 18–49 demographic has been down in the past few episodes. Perhaps the network will take into account the overall ratings for this season before it determines the fate of the show.
