Rumors of a freestyle rap battle between rap legends Eminem and Drake have been circulating on the internet. And it seems like it's not going to die down anytime soon. Although it would be great to see the rappers go against each other, a freestyle rap battle between the two will not happen.

Digital Spy provided an article that explains the truth behind these rumors. According to the news outlet, the rumors started when Canadian rapper Drake butted heads with New Jersey rapper Joe Budden. The two have been known for throwing shade at each other in the past, but recently, the two have gotten into it again. Budden criticized Drake's album "Views" while Drake responded with on-stage comments and social media messages.

Apparently, Eminem just got dragged into their mess. To note, Eminem is the owner of the record label in which the rap group Slaughterhouse is signed, and Budden is a member of that rap group. So, basically, his connection with Budden is what got him involved in this mess.

Again, Budden and Drake's feud is nothing new. It is definitely no secret. But during Hot 97 radio host Ebro Darden's segment, Eminem's name popped up. Darden told his listeners that he had a recent conversation with Drake. The radio host announced that he told Drake about a rumor saying that Eminem was going after him because of his feud with Budden.

Naturally, fans thought that a rap battle was ensuing. Hence, the internet blew up with excitement over a nonexistent rap battle.

According to Darden, when he told Drake about the rumor, the rapper laughed. "That's not gonna happen," Drake said. But if it did, the rapper told Darden that he has something for him, too.

One rumor led to another, and it eventually led to the rap battle rumor. Now, fans are disappointed after learning that there is no truth behind the rap battle. And it seems like DJ Ebro was responsible for so much disappointment among rap fans.

Darden turned to Twitter to announce that his statement on the radio was in fact just a big joke.

Eminem's manager, Paul Rosenberg, responded to Ebro's reckless behavior with a tweet that said, "Slow news day I see."
