'Empire' season 3 premiere spoilers: Taraji P. Henson confirms season 3 death

(Facebook/EmpireFOX)"Empire" season 3 will see a character death, as confirmed by Taraji P. Henson

The upcoming season of "Empire" will answer a lot of questions, and one of the big questions that will soon be given a straight answer is whether a major character will be dead when the new installment arrives.

Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie in the series, revealed that there will be a death in "Empire" season three. Speaking with AJ Calloway of Extra, the actress said: "Yeah, someone dies."

Unfortunately, Henson has no more information to give regarding the character death but fans can clearly assume that either of these two will be dead in the new season: Anika (Grace Gealey) or Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday).

As fans know, the two ladies had a fierce fight in the finale of season two and the final scene reveals that one of them has fallen off the top floor. Who is it? Based on the look on Andre's (Trai Byers) face when he saw the confrontation and heard the scream of one falling, it is easy to conclude that it was Rhonda who fell. However, things happen in television and it could be Anika who fell.

For now, fans can just sit tight and wait for the new season to hit small screens before taking any speculations to heart, especially since the show is known to pull off some twisted and shockingly unexpected endings.

As for Mariah Carey's entry to "Empire" season three as a guest star, Henson revealed that Carey's character will be a good friend of Cookie Lyon. "She plays a dear friend of mine. She is a performer and she is helping Jamal get through his difficulties," Henson dished, according to Extra.

Earlier this week, Henson also shared a behind-the-scenes photo of her with co-stars Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal; Bryshere Y. Gray, who plays Hakeem; and Byers. The Instagram post seems to tease that Cookie will only be focusing on her children when the show returns, considering how she decided to be done with Lucious' (Terrence Howard) selfish ways.
