Eva Mendes has been quiet and calm all throughout her pregnancy; and it is no surprise why she decided to keep motherhood under wraps, especially that she is still adjusting to it.

Mendes gave birth to a baby girl who she and partner Ryan Gosling named Esmeralda Amada Gosling, a name which they took from the character, Esmeralda from Victor Hugo's novel, 'Hunchback of Notre Dame.' Mendes says that they both love the character, and the name "Amada" is rooted from Mendes' grandmother, which means "beloved" in Spanish.

Talking to magazine Violet Grey the new mom says that she is adjusting quite well, though there are still struggles. Mendes says that tending to a newborn could end up in a "wild night," even joking that she thought her wild nights were gone a long time ago but that motherhood had brought them back.

"I thought my wild nights were over but these are some of the wildest nights I've ever had," joked Mendes to Violet Grey, as reported by Access Hollywood.

Mendes added that her daughter is having a difficult time as well.

"Everything is a struggle for her. For instance, I haven't thrown up since the '90s and she's thrown up twice since we started this interview. Motherhood is cake compared to what it's like to be a baby," shared Mendes in the same interview.
