The "Fast and Furious" franchise has proven to be one of the more enduring movie franchises in history. The cast and crew of the film were able to rise from the tragic loss of one of their own and came out with the highly-acclaimed "Fast and Furious 7." Now fans are eagerly waiting what is to come next for Toretto and the rest of his crew.

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding "Fast and Furious 8" recently, especially with regards to who will be sitting in the director's chair. But it appears that Vin Diesel has left a big clue about that in his Instagram post. The photo shows the "Riddick" star enjoying a light moment with Justin Lin and fans immediately took it to mean that the actor and producer is confirming that Lin is back on directorial duties.

The Taiwanese born Lin has already directed four "Fast and Furious" outings — starting from the third movie up to the sixth. He relinquished the director's chair to James Wan who more than capably handled "Fast and Furious 7." But the director has reportedly returned to his horror film roots and is already at work shooting "The Conjuring 2."

"Fast & Furious 8" is shaping up to be the most-talked about installment of the franchise as the last movie introduced new characters and a villain that has proven to be more than a match to Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs. And given Lin's background with the "Fast and Furious" films, it makes sense why fans would want him to come back and see the franchise to the end.

Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto), Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs) and most of the original cast have already confirmed their return, as well as Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) and Kurt Russell (Mr. Nobody). They will be joined by newcomer Ruby Rose and the familiar face of Eva Mendes, who is set to reprise her role as Monica Fuentes. There have also been reports that the venerable Helen Mirren might be joining the cast but will be on Shaw's side.

"Fast & Furious 8" will be racing to hit theatres in April 2017.
