'Fast and Furious 8': Vin Diesel's Instagram post hints at Mr. Nobody's return; actress Ruby Rose rumored to be joining the franchise

For Vin Diesel fans, Tuesday is always "Toretto Tuesday" and this time around, the hunky actor posted an intriguing picture of himself and Kurt Russell in a scene from "Furious 7."

The photo shows Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and Mr. Nobody (Russell) having a serious discussion. What makes the post intriguing is the lack of a caption, which immediately caused fans to come up with different theories on why the "Fast and Furious" actor chose this photo. The most popular theory? That it is a hint Russell is coming back for "Fast and Furious 8."

As Mr. Nobody, the 64-year-old Russell was perfect as the head of a team that specializes in covert operations who helps Toretto and his hard driving crew.

Even though his screen time was relatively short, Russell dominated every scene he was in, making him an instant fan favorite.

Fans have been clamoring for his return ever since and the rumblings that he is coming back has been getting louder. Russell himself has said he was open to the idea of returning for the eighth installation of the "Furious" franchise, especially with the way his character has been treated in the last movie.

When he guested on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" earlier this year, the actor, known for his portrayal of Snake Plissken, said the beauty of his character is that he can be developed several ways.

According to Russell, "the character has purposely been treated in a certain way so that he can or can't" return. He admitted that the "can" part will undoubtedly be interesting but he also says that "if he gets killed, he gets killed."

"I just wanted to be able to work with them making the best possible character to either be sad he doesn't move on or say, 'Yeah, I want this character to move on -- we need this character to move on,'" Russell explains.

Aside from Russell, the "Furious" franchise is apparently also keen on acquiring the services of actress Ruby Rose. Reports say that if Rose does join the franchise, her character might cause a rift in Dominic and Letty's marriage.

Almost all of the "Furious 7" cast members are reported to be coming back for the sequel. But so far, only stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are confirmed to be reprising their roles as Dominic Toretto, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, respectively.

"Fast and Furious 8" is slated to hit theaters on April 15, 2017.
