'Fast and Furious 8' spoilers, news: Next movie to be set in New York; fans won't see Paul Walker's character but Jordana Brewster might return

The "Fast and Furious" franchise has taken fans to the streets of Los Angeles, Tokyo, London and Abu Dhabi. Now, Dominic Toretto and his family are set to burn rubber on the streets of New York City in "Fast and Furious 8."
According to "Fast and Furious 8" star and producer Vin Diesel, the next film will be going to New York City. The 48-year-old actor revealed the film's next location when he guested on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The "XXX" star also admitted that the idea for "Fast and Furious" was originally about street racers in New York.
The eighth installment in the popular car racing franchise is reportedly headed in a new direction after the tragic death of Paul Walker, one of the series' breakout stars. Universal is said to be taking a page out of Marvel's and Disney's playbooks and is allowing the "Furious" universe to expand while keeping the original movie's essence and core characters intact.
Aside from Diesel, mainstays Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Dwayne Johnson are once again on board. Jason Statham and Kurt Russell are also set to reprise their roles as Deckard Shaw and Mr. Nobody, respectively. Fans will also be seeing "NCIS: New Orleans" regular Lucas Black, who played Sean Boswell from "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."
However, fans will not be seeing Brian O'Conner in "Furious 8." The production team of "Fast and Furious 7" used CGI and Walker's brother, Cody, in the movie's post-production cuts, but NBC Universal vice-chairman, Ron Meyer, revealed that they won't be doing that anymore. However, Meyer told Variety that Walker will "be represented in some form or another." Fans might see Brian's wife, Mia Torreto, return though. At least, Jordana Brewster hasn't ruled out that possibility.
"Fast and Furious 8" is said to be the first of a trilogy that will start on April 15, 2017.
