'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' release news: Game most likely to be released in 2017

(Final Fantasy VII)Cloud Strife is the main protagonist in "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," which will be released for PlayStation 4 reportedly in 2017.

When Sony announced the coming of "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" during last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), players began to anticipate its release date. It was previously speculated to be out this year, but later reports suggest it is unlikely to happen.

The 2016 release date speculation was ignited by a Sony print advertisement that appeared on OPM UK and EDGE Magazine around July 2015. However, in an interview with producer Yoshinori Kitasi early this year, he said, "I believe that this year will still be a year of preparations for 'Finaly Fantasy VII Remake.' I'd like to create a new kind of value for the hardware that is the PlayStation 4 for our next announcement."

While it may take another year before players get their hands on the final game, it seems like much effort is being exerted to make "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" worth the wait. In an interview, director Tetsuya Nomura said, "FFVII is special and we cannot 'surpass it' just by making it look pretty. The original version is a product of 1997, so to look at it now you can feel its age in the graphics and the game systems." He also added, "I don't think merely redoing the graphics is enough to make something you can get excited by."

It would seem that a lot of planning and development have already started when the remake was announced and now new reports claim that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" may be available sooner than expected. New speculations suggest that the multi-part game series will be released starting the second quarter of 2017.

"Final Fantasy" is arguably one of the most popular game series ever and, with more than three months to go before the year ends, more details are expected to be shared soon.
