'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie news: Director Gil Kenan wants to use real animatronics; Chica might be part of the plot

The "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie is definitely a go, if the social media posts of director, Gil Kenan, are anything to go by. The 38-year-old director appears to be drumming up interest for his latest venture by teasing fans with party photos and hints that Bonnie and Chica might be a central part of the movie.

Taking a page from "Five Nights at Freddy's" creator, Scott Cawthon, Kenan has been dropping arcane hints that fans have been lapping up.

The "Poltergeist" director posted a picture of party supplies that strongly hints of a child's party and those who have played the game know that birthday parties are a main part of the plot. Gamers also noticed that the smiling cupcakes strongly resembled the cupcake that the Chica animatronic usually carries.

Kenan has not said anything about what that Instagram post means but fans say it is a blatant allusion to the game, especially since the director himself said the game's movie adaptation will showcase the Bite Of '87, the tragedy that set the horror of "Five Nights at Freddy's" in motion.

Surprisingly, it has been reported that Kenan is set on using full-size animatronics instead of the CGI that most movies would go for. He even posted several photos of what these characters would look like. This move would hopefully help make the movie as well-received and as groundbreaking as the game.

"Five Nights at Freddy's" fans might be used to Cawthon's swift turnover of games, but a movie is another matter entirely. As a matter of fact, a tweet made by the director more or less confirmed that he is still writing the script so it would take some time before fans could even catch a glimpse of a Freddy's movie trailer. After all, there is still that not-so-simple matter of finding the right cast and crew for the film.

But those who are itching for another round of "Five Nights at Freddy's," Cawthon's survival horror game is now available on PC and mobile devices.
