'Frozen 2' news, updates, plot rumors: film delayed due to other Disney movies; sequel to feature dark sibling rivalry?

(Facebook/DisneyFrozen)"Frozen 2" is currently in the writers room but there are already hot rumors on the supposed plot

As fans await for more updates about the release of "Frozen 2," there are new reports suggesting that the sequel may be delayed due to other projects that Disney is planning to launch by 2017 and 2018.

Recent reports point to "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Little Mermaid" as the two main films that are blocking "Frozen 2" from hitting the big screens. The trailer for "Beauty and the Beast" has already been aired earlier this year, which could mean that some pretty good developments are already under way for the movie.

"The Little Mermaid" has yet to unleash its first trailer but fans are already looking forward to it. It is now clear that Disney is spending time and effort on the two said movies as there is no clear word regarding the progress in "Frozen 2."

Meanwhile, there are hot rumors on the alleged plot of "Frozen 2." According to some reports, Elsa and Anna may end up fighting against each other for the much-coveted crown that speaks of power, rule, and glory.

As fans know, Elsa is the Queen of Arendelle since she's the firstborn. It is speculated that her sister, Anna, may discover that she isn't a true princess and does not have any royal blood flowing through her veins. She is then rumored to become the big villain in the sequel and she will challenge her sister's powers and authority.

In June, Idina Menzel, who is the voice actress for Elsa, made a joke that sparked the plot rumors. Speaking with E! News, the famous theatre actress said: "We are at story writing and they're working on it and I think I'm in it. That's all I know—unless maybe Elsa falls off an ice cliff and she dies in the first five minutes."

The joke has then turned into a reasonable plot theory that might be picked up by Disney in the end. On the other hand, it may be a turn that's too dark for children who loved the sibling chemistry between Elsa and Anna from the start.

Disney has yet to announce when "Frozen 2" will premiere.
