'Ghostbusters 3' update: first look at character Kevin, played by Chris Hemsworth

The god turns into a geek as Chris Hemsworth sheds his Thor garb for his Ghostbusters costume. And fans of the Australian actor finally get to see how his "Ghostbusters 3" character will look like.

The latest "Ghostbusters 3" is trying to go against the norms of the franchise by featuring an all-female Ghostbusters team. Completing the team is the male secretary (because conventionally, the team had a female secretary) Kevin, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth.

A Hemsworth brothers fan Twitter account posted a first look at Chris as the new Ghostbusters secretary. He's wearing the same brown-ish uniform with orange reflective design as the female parapsychologists. His character is also donning some geeky glasses but looking somewhat cool riding a motorbike.

Not much had been said as of press time about Kevin. But if the new photo is any indication, he might differ from the previous "Ghostbusters" secretary, not just in gender but also in disposition. Former secretary, Janine Melnitz (played by Annie Potts in the 1984 and 1989 films), was a bit aloof and deadpan, while Kevin looks a bit jolly and engaging.

The new team will be comprised of author, Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), her co-author, Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones). Also confirmed to be joining the movie are Andy Garcia as New York City's mayor and Neil Casey as the villain, Rowan. Former Ghostbusters' Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray will also have cameo appearances. Ozzy Osbourne has also been announced to appear as himself in the film.

Filming for the latest movie in the franchise started last month with Paul Feig — who had been very active about updates over Twitter — sitting on the director's chair. He also co-wrote the script with Kate Dippold. Though the movie is a reboot, it will still be set in New York City just like the first two movies and is slightly inspired by AMC's "The Walking Dead," said Feig.

"Ghostbusters 3" hits cinemas on July 15, 2016,  a week earlier than its previously announced release date.
