In a surprise move that fans didn't see coming, USA network pulled the plug on "Graceland" and the show will not be coming back for a fourth season.

The news that "Graceland" was cancelled was confirmed by show creator Jeff Eastin. The announcement was made on Twitter where Eastin said thanks to "the best cast, crew and fans in television."

The show wrapped its third season last Sept. 17 on a cliffhanger and fans were hoping that "Graceland" would come back for another season. There were indications that it would be renewed and fans were all set to wait for its return. However, it appears that the show's ratings were not enough to merit another season.

An insider explained to EW that while it was a great and creative show that had a good run for three seasons, "the ratings didn't justify bringing it back from a financial perspective."

The show's premiere season saw it averaging around 4.3 million viewers. But the numbers fell quickly during its sophomore run and according to the Examiner, by the time the finale of the third season aired, less than 1 million viewers tuned in. The season also saw an average of about 848,000 viewers each episode.

The news of the cancellation came as a blow to the cast, and some have already started saying their bittersweet goodbyes to their fans.

Star Aaron Tveit tweeted, "I send my love and enormous gratitude to my cast, crew, creators, @FOXTV, @USA_Network. Had the time of my life!!! And extra love and thanks to the greatest fans ever!!"

Erik Valdez, who did a remarkable job portraying Carlito Solano, also tweeted his gratitude to his fans and to Eastin for taking a chance on him.

The drama premiered in 2013 and revolved around a group of undercover agents from different American government agencies who were forced to live together in a confiscated house that carried the titular name Graceland. The series was described as creatively intense as it showed how the agents straddled the thin line between hero and villain and to what extent they would go to to keep their covers intact.
